Introduction
Hello, I'm Easygoing.
In this post, I’m excited to introduce mellow_pencil-XL_clear_v2, a model known for its beautiful color expression, along with an easy-to-use ComfyUI workflow.
What is mellow_pencil-XL_clear_v2?
mellow_pencil-XL_clear_v2 is a custom-tuned version of the anime model mellow_pencil-XL-v1.0.0-base, originally created by blue_pen5805.
Key Features of the mellow_pencil-XL Series:
- Strong Detailing: Inherits high-quality detail from Illustrious-XL-v2.0.
- Natural Language Support: Handles descriptive prompts very effectively.
- Stylized Aesthetic: Produces cute, "deformed" anime-style illustrations.
I previously introduced the mellow_pencil-XL_clear_v1 model, but I’ve since applied further adjustments to pursue superior color expression. I’m happy to officially release and re-introduce mellow_pencil-XL_clear_v2.

The previous mellow_pencil-XL_clear_v1 was a model specifically enhanced with intermediate noise to create a sharp, high-definition output.
While this increased contrast and detail, it sometimes resulted in a "burnt" color look or left behind color blotches/unevenness caused by noise artifacts.
In mellow_pencil-XL_clear_v2, I have slightly reduced the intermediate noise to achieve natural color expression and a cleaner texture. As a trade-off, the density of fine background details is slightly lower compared to v1.
